Westford University welcomed its first-year students with a thrilling bowling competition on September 19, 2024, at the Dubai International Bowling Center. The event, as part of the opening week festivities, was filled with excitement and a friendly competitive spirit as students from various programs came together to participate.
Approximately 120 freshmen took part, forming 11 male and 9 female teams. Faculty and staff served as lane marshals, ensuring the smooth flow of the competition. Despite many participants bowling for the first time, everyone embraced the experience, enjoying the opportunity to meet new friends and peers. One of the most exciting moments of the event was when players scored full strikes, which brought cheers from their teammates.
As the game progressed, each lane fiercely competed for the highest team score, with the goal of reaching the top position in their respective male and female categories. After nearly an hour of intense gameplay, the following teams emerged victorious:
Female Group:
- 3rd Place: Team 14 with 370 points
- 2nd Place: Team 17 with 382 points
- 1st Place: Team 10 with 423 points
Male Group:
- 3rd Place: Team 7 with 501 points
- 2nd Place: Team 4 with 550 points
- 1st Place: Team 3 with 562 points
In addition to the team awards, special recognition was given to the highest-scoring individual players:
- Best Female Player: Sabreela with 177 points
- Best Male Player: Hamza Naeem with 132 points
The event was a resounding success, fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among the freshers. It provided a warm welcome to the new students, helping them feel part of the vibrant Westford community.
